EDUARDO PANIAGUA / CRISTIANE AZEM (SONGS OF LOVE AND OF FRIENDS)
Music, Poetry and Dance of Medieval Iberia with contemporary touches.
Featuring the Medieval cantigas de amor e de amigo and their dialogue with selected Fernando Pessoa poems, including 4 dance pieces interpreted by the Brazilian dancer of Lebanese origin, Cristiane Azem (Portuguese speaker and master of traditional dances). A conversation between dance and various musical instruments (particularly the psaltery), but also between the old and the modern, and various art forms. Sitting atop a hill, the Castelo de S. Jorge dominates the landscape. It’s true now and has been so for more than a thousand years. Today it’s a national symbol and for many centuries has been a guardian, dynamic, adaptable in war and guarantor of peace. On National Castle Day, a visit to this monument is like hearing an echo from the past as we follow all the visual clues that time has left behind.
