Sundial

This limestone sundial, attributed to “P. Estevão” and probably dating from around 1760, told the time
by the shadow cast by a metal rod, now lost. Its surface is decorated with human figures, animals,
plants, celestial bodies and other symbols that evoke the cycles of nature and the agricultural
calendar, bringing together scientific knowledge, symbolism and art in a single object.
