Artes Bélicas no Castelo – The Siege of Lisbon
Artes Bélicas no Castelo – The Siege of Lisbon
An invitation to relive one of the most remarkable episodes in Portuguese history: the Siege of Lisbon in 1147. Using historical sources from the time, we explore the events that led to the Christian conquest of the city, placing them within the context of medieval Lisbon and its evolution up to the present day.
Using wooden models and digital reconstructions, visitors will be able to visualize the city’s topographic transformations over the centuries, gaining an understanding of the strategic importance of São Jorge Castle in the defense and consolidation of the territory.
The activity also includes demonstrations of combat and siege techniques, offering a unique immersion into medieval military arts.
At the end, participants will have the opportunity to handle the weapons under the expert guidance of the Ofício Bélico team.
November 9th – 11am, 2pm, 4pm
Ages 5 years and over | no booking required | included in the Castle ticket
