Scriptures and Scribes of Torre do Tombo

On the day of Camões, Portugal and the Portuguese Communities, we talk about the art of writing, how language shapes the identity of a national and how the language of Camões evolved.
This workshop is developed around the discovery of medieval manuscripts and their illuminations to create a playful and educational learning moment, ideal for young people and their families.
What are illuminations, what was the purpose of Torre do Tombo and who watched over it, are some of the questions that we will address.
Through the recreation of medieval illuminations and a tour through various parts of the monument, we will identify the spaces and history of the Castle that are linked to the history of the Portuguese language.
